Sunday Thinking ― 6.8.25

"Someone not choosing you is painful. But you not choosing yourself is betrayal."

Tomorrow! Claim one of the last spots for The Daily Coach’s special event, “A Discussion on Leadership with Coach Tom Crean and Michael Lombardi” tomorrow at 6 pm EDT. Reserve one of the last spots.

The weekly Sunday Thinking newsletter is quick-hit content that aims to provide a booster shot to your thought process as you end and start your week.

"Sometimes, the hardest seasons of your life are growing you into a version of yourself that recognizes your own strength, that believes in your capacity to rebuild even the most broken parts of who you are. Sometimes, it is within those moments, it is within that dark, where you meet your survival, where you learn to weather whatever storm life manages to send your way. And sometimes, you will not know where this quiet power has come from, you will not know how or when the healing began, but it will be there. It will always arrive, quietly in the night, after weeks, or months, or years of pushing your way into the world. And it is within that reality, it is within that softening, that you will be reminded of all the ways you continue to beat the odds. It is within that journey, it is within that fight, where you will be reminded of how you overcame all of the things you once thought would defeat you."

I. You’re Allowed to Choose You

You're allowed to build a life that feels too good to explain.

  • You're allowed to stop hustling to prove you're worthy.

  • You're allowed to soften. To slow down. To stop asking for permission.

  • You've spent enough time being the version of you that was palatable to everyone else.

Now it's about choosing what sets your soul on fire ― not what makes sense on paper. Let them wonder. Let them talk. You didn't come this far to live a life that doesn't even light you up.

II. Greatness Is Not a Moment

The cost of greatness is years of silence. Years without applause. Years of doing the same reps while nothing happens.

  • Most people will not pay the price because they are impatient.

  • But greatness is not a moment. It is a decision made daily with no guarantee it will work.

  • You will want to quit. To start over. To distract yourself. But time keeps moving.

So either you suffer now through the process or suffer later with the regret. One hurts, and the other haunts. You say you want it, then prove it, or did you have other plans?

III. Service Your Soul

Keep the appointments with yourself.

  • The three long-hand pages in the morning, the walk to help you reflect, the one deep breath.

  • Pay attention to the things that move you and the people that move you. Spend time with those people, those things.

  • Give yourself permission to adventure, to dream, to wander, to create.

Return to the well of yourself and begin again, as many times as you need.

V. Question

What might unfold if you kept your promises to yourself with the same devotion you give to everyone else?

VI. This Week, I Will

  • Keep my sacred appointments with myself.

  • Embrace the silence that greatness demands.

  • Choose myself. Softly. Boldly. Without apology.

  • Honor my progress, even if it’s quiet. Even if it’s invisible to others.

  • Remind myself that gentleness is strength, and that showing up — even imperfectly — is a victory.

The Last Words…

"If your heart is really heavy today, that just means it's full. And whenever I feel like this I remind myself that the heart, too, is a muscle — it needs weight to grow. If any of you can relate to that — be gentle with yourself, and hold on to your hope. You're going to be okay."
