How’s Your Soul?: The Art of Reframing
Reframing is a powerful practice that shifts our mindset. It lets us see situations from a renewed perspective.
With so much happening around us—in our personal lives, professional journeys, and humanity at large—it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, drained, and even anxious about the future.
Take a moment right now to breathe.
As leaders and positive difference-makers, we have a unique opportunity to pause, reflect inwardly, and reframe how we perceive and respond to these crucial moments.
Today is a new day. As Dr. Maya Angelou once said, “Today is a wonderful day. I've never seen this one before.”
None of us have, and tomorrow isn’t promised.
So, how can we ground ourselves to lead with deeper clarity, compassion, unity and love today? How often do we pause to ask ourselves, “How’s my spirit? How’s my soul?”
As leaders, we’re often so focused on guiding others that we neglect or overlook our own inner needs. Yet now, more than ever, this self-check is vital—not just for us, but for those we lead. Taking moments to ask these questions provides the inner tranquility and focus we need to navigate the days ahead.
When uncertainty or fear arises, remember: fear is often “false evidence appearing real.” Leading from fear can close our minds, harden our hearts, and tense our bodies. But when we reframe our perspective and lead from a place of trust, we remind ourselves to approach life with a more open mind, softened heart, and liberated spirit.
Reframing is a powerful practice that shifts our mindset. It lets us see situations from a renewed perspective, choosing to look at things differently. While we can’t control others or many life events, we can control our response.
This shift in perspective is like adjusting a lens, enabling us to view challenges with deeper trust, openness, and resilience. Reframing doesn’t deny reality; it empowers us to respond with greater clarity, transformational impact, and intention.
As you move through today and the days ahead, ask yourself: Where am I living or leading in a way that feels disempowered?
Notice if fear, anxiousness or uncertainty is clouding your vision, causing tension in your body, shrinking you, or holding you back. Remember, in any given moment, we have the power to shift and reframe our perspective by leaning deeper into self-trust and grounding ourselves in the only moment that is ever guaranteed ― right now.
When we’re aligned with our own well-being, spirit and inner compass, we bring a calmer, more anchored presence to those who rely on us for guidance, courage, support, love, belief and faith.
May we live and lead bravely with radical candor, compassion, and a unifying spirit today. May our inner strength shine brightly, serving as a beacon of wisdom, grace and hope for everyone who seeks our light in this precious moment and in the days ahead.
