There Is No Finish Line

Life is never merely a destination but a journey of awakened discovery.

My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” — Dr. Maya Angelou

Do not become distracted by the final product and the outcome of your dreams. Refocus your attention on the process of your aspirations. Striving for greatness and living a life of excellence is not merely a destination but a transformative personal growth journey. It is in the meticulous preparation and repetition, usually in isolation, far away from the bright lights and public attention that will put you in a position to consistently seize the moments on the biggest stages.

So instead of concentrating solely on productivity, allow yourself to focus on energy management, time management, and environmental management. Productivity becomes a byproduct of the other three. How you manage your energy, time, and environment provides you with the mental clarity to unlearn to relearn while being at peak efficiency and performance when your best is required. Your best is needed every single day, no matter the circumstances. Your 86,400 seconds of unique possibilities each day is an invaluable growth opportunity to discover and to get better!

As you read these declarations, understand if you focus on this moment and what is in your control, while exhausting your fullest potential, with time the repetition will create momentum, and the momentum will produce results.

  • We put enormous emphasis on doing but far less on being.

  • Be yourself, but be your best self.

  • Change your life, one day at a time.

  • Your actions must be consistent with your words.

  • Most people end their education after they finish school.

  • Our most common regrets are not the risks we took, but the ones we did not.

  • Every day make someone's day special. Practice random acts of kindness.

  • Teach what you learn as soon as you learn it.

  • Always go to bed, smarter than you were when you woke up.

  • Each of us has a different opinion as to what is the good life. Cultivate yours!

  • True wisdom is knowing what you don't know, but need to know.

  • You have to love yourself before you can love anyone else.

  • All of us need a go-to person that keeps us focused and honest.

  • Without trust, there is no collaboration.

  • The world runs on relationships, knowledge, storytelling, technology, and confidence.

  • Some people will not understand or support your journey and decisions in life. That is okay. They do not need to. It is not for them to comprehend.

Life is never merely a destination but a journey of awakened discovery. As Lizzie Velásquez, a truth-telling speaker, activist, and author brilliantly remind us all, "We experience challenges in order to learn and grow. We have fears because we're human, and our life's work includes working through them, to come to a place of genuine self-acceptance, compassion, and love."
