The 5 Undeniable Facts of Life

Like all thoughtful leaders, Steve Jobs left us with some important messages that serve as life lessons. 

As he was laying on his death bed, with no ability to fight off the cancer that ravaged his body, Jobs wanted to share some departing wisdom.

He called these the Five Undeniable Facts of Life:

1. Don't educate your children to be rich. Educate them to be happy so that when they grow up, they will know the value of things, not the price. We all must remind those we lead, those we raise that happiness is the key to being successful. Doing what we love creates passion, focus and resiliency.

2. Eat your food as your medicines. Otherwise, you have to eat medicines as your food. Humans have a great ability to heal themselves with the proper diet. Be careful what we use as our fuel.

3. The one who loves you will never leave you for another because even if there are 100 reasons to give up, he or she will find one reason to hold on. You learn in life that it’s never the number of friends who matter, only the quality of those relationships. 

4. There is a big difference between a human being and being human. Only a few really understand it. Being human requires having compassion, empathy and honesty. Those are not hard traits for us to practice each day. 

5. You are loved when you are born. You will be loved when you die. In between, you have to manage! 

Jobs learned from traveling around the globe that the six best doctors in the world aren’t in medical centers. They’re really in how we treat ourselves each day. 

His six best doctors in the world:

1. Rest

2. Exercise

3. Diet

4. Self Confidence

5. Friends

6. Sunlight

Maintain these in all stages and enjoy a healthy life.

We are 43 days into the new year and should use Jobs’ beliefs as a way to refocus — and recommit to leading a life well lived.
