Sunday Thinking ― 12.15.24

"If you teach, you have to live your teaching."

The weekly Sunday Thinking newsletter is quick-hit content that aims to provide a booster shot to your thought process as you end and start your week.

“We are like books. Most people only see our cover, the minority read only the introduction, many people believe the critics. Few will know our content.”

― Émile Zola, Novelist

I. Are You Truly Recharging?

Staying busy is easy. Staying well rested-now there's a challenge. Discover how understanding the 7 types of rest can help.

  1. Physical ― sleep, gentle movement.

  2. Emotional ― honoring boundaries, unloading, acceptance

  3. Mental ― take breaks, brain dumps, schedule worry time

  4. Sensory ― phone on DND, break from screens/ blue light, be still and quiet

  5. Social ― Spend time with people who have a positive impact on you or be alone if that's what you need

  6. Creative ― make something, anything―don't overthink it, nature walk, read

  7. Spiritual― meditate, pray, breathwork

"Identifying your rest deficits is the first step in being your personal and professional best self."

II. Gentle Reminders

  • Fear doesn't stop death, it stops life.

  • If it costs you your peace, it's too expensive.

  • You can do anything, but not everything. Focus.

  • We do not see things as they are. We see things as we are.

  • The magic you're looking for is in the work you're avoiding.

  • "No." is a complete sentence. You don't have to justify yourself.

  • If someone could only see your actions and not hear your words, what would they say your priorities are?

III. Do You Have a Moment?

  • Let's talk about your comeback. All the times you fell and got back up.

  • Let's talk about the lessons. All the hurt you turned into healing.

  • Let's talk about the version of you that you haven't met yet, and all the versions of you that helped you get to where you are now.

  • Let's talk about your survival, all the things that were sent to break you, and you barely even flinched.

  • Let's talk about how beautiful it is that the ugliest parts of your story are what taught you grace.

  • Let's talk about all of the times you doubted yourself, how you used the pieces of those moments to build yourself back up into the most certain thing you've ever known.

You didn't break. Let's talk about how far you've come and how you're still standing.

V. Question

What is the gift you currently hold in exile?

VI. This Week, I Will

  1. Release.

  2. Release the fear of the unknown.

  3. Release the fear of starting anew.

  4. Release the fear of asking for help.

  5. Release the fear of not being enough.

The Last Words…

“Maturity is not letting things drag on. Usually, your intuition will know when something needs to end before the mind is ready to close a chapter and open a new one. Whether it’s a job, relationship, friendship, passion project – it is helpful to remember that few things last a lifetime and when they do it is because they are really worth it. Fighting against your intuition creates a lot of internal tension. Closing a chapter can be quite challenging but sometimes it is the exact thing you need to do to allow space for new magic to enter your life. If your life is too full, it’s hard for new incredible opportunities to fully reveal themselves to you. Let go where you need to let go.”
