Sunday Thinking

"Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tiptoe if you must, but take the step."

Love reading The Daily Coach and wish there was more? We’re launching a new online community, the Daily Coach Academy, for growth-minded leaders in sports, business, and education. Applications are due October 18th - learn more.

The weekly Sunday Thinking newsletter is quick-hit content that aims to provide a booster shot to your thought process as you end and start your week.

"Life is a fleeting dance, a delicate balance of moments that unfold before us, never to return in quite the same way again. Regret is a bitter pill to swallow, a weight that bears down upon the soul with the burden of missed chances and unspoken words. So, let us not leave anything for later. Let us seize the moments as they come, with hearts open and arms outstretched to embrace the possibilities that lie before us. For in the end, it is not the things we did that we regret, but the things we left undone, the words left unspoken, the dreams left unfulfilled."

I. Talent Is Overrated

The cheapest thing one possesses is their talent.

  • One can have all the talent and skillsets in the world with the wrong perspective.

  • And there can be another individual that's not as talented and not as skillful with the correct perspective. They'll outwork the wrong perspective person every day of the week.

  • Not because they are more talented than that person. Not because they are more skillful than that person but because their perspective of what they are doing is totally different.

They value the process. They respect the craft.

II. The Cost of Later

Don't leave anything for later.

  • Later, the coffee gets cold.

  • Later, people grow up.

  • Later, people grow old.

  • Later, words go unsaid.

  • Later, you lose interest.

  • Later, opportunities slip away.

  • Later, the day turns into night.

  • Later, you regret not doing something.

Later, life goes by, and you have the chance.

III. Autumn's Wisdom: The Art of Release

Autumn, in its vibrant yet fleeting glory, can teach us all about the delicate art of release. Nature teaches us to trust this process. To understand that letting go isn't about loss but creating space for change and self-nurturing.

May we all remember:

  • that our blooming cannot be rushed.

  • that our rebirth isn't immediate.

  • that change is possible.

  • to keep showing up.

  • to welcome to patience.

  • that each of us unfolds in our own time.

  • that trusting the season we’re in is an act of courage.

May you offer yourself the permission to let go. May you trust that each release is a step toward the next version of yourself. May we all learn what surrendering truly feels like this season. May everything that is to be—be so.

V. Question

What is something you are holding onto right now, and how might letting go create space for new growth?

VI. This Week, I Will

  1. Focus on the next small step in front of me.

  2. Release the grip of things I cannot control.

  3. Return to myself as many times as I need to.

  4. Remember we're all dealing with something heavy. Be gentle.

  5. Focus more on what I'm building, not what I had to leave behind.

The Last Words…

"There is no rewind button or do-over on life. Time spent is forever lost – but that doesn’t mean today can’t be the start of something beautiful. True; the best time to start may have been 10 years ago, but the second best time is now. So grab the mic now and make a choice right now to squeeze everything you can out of this beautiful thing called life. Remember, you don’t have to finish where you started. Things don’t have to stay as they are because they’ve always been that way. You can make your own rules, choose your own path, and win big with whatever you want for your life. Live from your heart, create through the lens of love, and stay forever curious. Dance with every aspect of your being and allow every part of you to shine. Find your version of wholeness."
