“When you look into the future, what do you see? The warrior must win the battle in their mind against fear, doubt, and hate and walk courageously into the future revealed only through faith, hope, and love.”
— Erwin Raphael McManus, The Way of the Warrior: An Ancient Path to Inner Peace
I. The Art of Change
Change requires:
Purpose + Vision
Discipline + Trust
Comfort + Choice
Optimism + Knowledge
Courage + Commitment
“Most people resist change, even when it promises to be for the better. But change will come, and if you acknowledge this simple but indisputable fact of life, and understand that you must adjust to all change, then you will have a head start.” — Arthur Ashe
II. Get Comfortable Saying No
“No” is a sentence, and saying no is a leadership skill.
Say “No” To:
The takers of life.
What's not helping you grow.
Other people's expectations of you.
Things you don't value or believe in.
Things you do to simply please others.
What no longer serves your highest good.
All of the things in your life that feel draining.
People and connections that don't fully support your evolution.
III. The Five Ds of Conversation
Dictating: Telling what to do.
Debate: Arguing with zero sum.
Discussion: Open conversation.
Deliberation: Joint decision-making.
Dialogue: Exploring one another.
Our conversations + actions can inspire those we love and lead to dream more, learn more, do more and become more.
IV. What We’re Excited About
Day One has helped hundreds of early-stage founders navigate through the ambiguity of launching a new business without the costs, risks and loneliness of attempting to go it alone.
- one part course, where you learn the fundamentals of validating and launching a startup
- one part coaching, where you receive hands-on guidance and accountability, and
- one part community, where you access talented peers, experienced founders and investors
Over 10 weeks, you'll level up as a founder and learn the ins and outs of launching a startup from those who've been there before.
V. Question
Lately, what has been your relationship to the present moment? Is there a way for you to connect with it more deeply?
VI. This Week I Will
Say yes to life
Manage energy wisely.
Maintain a mindset of humility.
Learn from and correct mistakes.
Say no to needless commitments.
The Last Words…
“Sending love to everyone who’s trying their best to heal from things that they don’t discuss.”
— Unknown
