“Do not ask your children to strive for extraordinary lives. Such striving may seem admirable, but it is the way of foolishness. Help them instead to find the wonder
and the marvel of an ordinary life. Show them the joy of tasting tomatoes, apples and pears. Show them how to cry when pets and people die. Show them the infinite pleasure in the touch of a hand. And make the ordinary come alive for them. The extraordinary will take care of itself.”
― William Martin, The Parent’s Tao Te Ching: Ancient Advice for Modern Parents
I. Growing in Wisdom
Nine qualities to move beyond mere knowledge and facts:
Accept uncertainty and unknown.
Seek humility, and embrace wonder.
Don’t be defined by success.
Accept the finality of life.
Value character over reputation.
Listen and ask questions.
Grow in hope, regardless of what’s going on around you.
Surround with hopeful, life-giving people.
Learn from the past, but never live there.

II. A Message to Our Children + Youth
We trust you.
We believe in you.
We know you can do it.
You are appreciated.
You are listened to.
You are loved.
“Children have never been very good at listening to their elders, but they have never failed to imitate them.” ― James Baldwin
III. Elements of Culture
Beliefs: the things that most people in a society consider to be true.
Values: the things that people consider important, such as love, loyalty, hard work, compassion, knowledge, and humanitarianism.
Norms: expectations and rules of behavior created by external and internal social controls.
Language: the basis of interaction and communication among people.
Roles: the things which define a person's associates, responsibilities, power, and wealth.
Social Collectives: the togetherness among people from the same culture.
As positive difference makers and agents of change, each day is a unique opportunity to build a welcoming, empowering, innovative, and high-performance culture of excellence.

V. Question
What am I missing by choosing to worry or be afraid?
VI. This Week I Will
Move my body.
Make time for joy.
Pause and breathe.
Show up authentically.
Acknowledge my efforts.
The Last Words…
“Traditional business strategy too often does not bother to create a story or narrative about its actions for its employees and the world to gather around. For the strategy to become reality, people need to see themselves in the story and then take action to make the story happen.”
― Beth Comstock, Imagine It Forward: Courage, Creativity, and the Power of Change

P.S. Searching for a book recommendation? Our team at The Daily Coach highly recommends Clarity & Connection by Yung Pueblo. From the celebrated author of Inward comes a new collection of poetry and short prose focused on understanding how past wounds impact our present relationships. In Clarity & Connection, Yung Pueblo describes how intense emotions accumulate in our subconscious and condition us to act and react in certain ways. In his characteristically spare, poetic style, he guides readers through the excavation and release of the past that is required for growth.
