Sunday Thinking

"The pain of regret is far heavier than the price of discipline."

The weekly Sunday Thinking newsletter is quick-hit content that aims to provide a booster shot to your thought process as you end and start your week.

"You're not off-track. There is no way to be. Your life is a continuous unfolding of yourself. It is shaped and guided by the world outside of you, and how you interpret and respond to that world. It's an ongoing exploration of who you are and how you might be. Life does not begin when everything is perfect. It does not start when you think you're worthy. It's happening right now. You are not anywhere but where you are supposed to be, because there is nowhere else to be. The idea that you might have to earn your way into the life that is already yours is an illusion."

― Brianna Wiest, The Pivot Year

I. Boss vs. Leader

  • A boss looks for reasons to say no. A leader looks for reasons to say yes.

  • A boss issues orders and demands loyalty. A leader gives direction and takes responsibility.

  • A boss expects to be the most important person in the room. A leader makes everyone feel important.

II. Slowing Down Adulting

The relentlessly constant nature of adulting gets overwhelming. Even in rest mode, being bound to some sort of responsibility that requires your energy and attention is a wild experience.

This is why regular, conscious self-care is so important:

  • Be patient with yourself.

  • Be present in your mind.

  • Focus on what is in front of you.

  • Take things day by day, or even minute by minute if you have to.

III. A Gentle Reminder

May this month be one of change, clarity, humility, and joy. This month, I hope you remember...

  • That you're allowed to be confident in your abilities. No more playing it small. Show up with self-belief in tow.

  • To trust your instincts and intuition when it comes to matters of the heart. You know when something feels off. Stop ignoring the signs and start getting curious about what they're trying to tell you.

  • That you're capable of handling the challenges that come your way. Extend love, grace, and patience to yourself in the face of adversity. You can get through what you're going through.

  • To value your time and energy. You're worthy of a peaceful life. Chaos and confusion are not your resting place.

IV. What We’re Excited About

Don’t cut back, get cash back

The cost of eggs has risen 190.9% since 2020. And with costs continuing to rise, we’re all trying to figure out where we can cut back a little bit.

That’s where Upside comes in. It’s a free app that gets you cash back on everyday items, like groceries, gas, and at restaurants. You get to go about your normal business while Upside earns a little bit of cash back here and there along the way.

Upside users earn 3x more cash back than other apps and rewards programs. On average, frequent users earn $340 a year.

Get an extra 25¢/gal cash back on your first tank of gas. Download the free Upside app and use code: “BHCulture25”.

V. Question

What type of work brings you the most happiness? What type of work brings you the most meaning? Are they the same or different?

VI. This Week, I Will

  1. Show up.

  2. Be intentional.

  3. Practice self-discipline.

  4. Love myself through it all.

  5. Realize burnout is not a badge of honor.

The Last Words…

"Your purpose is in no way limited to your work or what you do for money. It’s so much bigger than that. It’s the standard you hold with your presence. It’s the truths you speak with your life."
