“What is my purpose in life?” I asked the void. “What if I told you that you fulfilled it when you took an extra hour to talk to that kid about his life?” said the voice. “Or when you paid for that young couple in that restaurant? Or when you saved that dog in traffic? Or when you tied your father’s shoes for him?”

“Your problem is that you equate purpose with goal-based achievement. God or the Universe or morality isn’t interested in your achievements… just your heart. When you choose to act out of kindness, compassion and love, you are already aligned with your true purpose. No need to look any further.”

— Tao & Zen, Note to Self

I.  The Way We Look at Life

Hate has 4 letters, so does Love.Enemies has 7 letters, so does Friends.Lying has 5 letters, so does Truth.Negative has 8 letters, so does Positive.Under has 5 letters, so does Above.Cry has 3 letters, so does Joy.Anger has 5 letters, so does Happy.Right has 5 letters, so does Wrong.Hurt has 4 letters, so does Heal.

This means life is like a double-edged sword…so transform every negative side into an aura of positivity…we should choose the better side of the life.

II. The Art of Simple Living

Two ways to simplify life:

  1. Decide what's important.

  2. Let go what isn't.

III. Moving Beyond Self Sabotage

Self Sabotage can look like:

  • Rejecting praise.

  • Not asking for help.

  • Trying to be perfect.

  • Saying yes to everything.

  • Equating vulnerability to weakness.

  • Putting your needs and dreams on hold.

  • Being kind to everybody else but yourself.

  • Comparing yourself and your journey to others.

  • Procrastinating on important tasks and your intuition.

“Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I’ll try again tomorrow.” — Mary Anne Radmacher

IV. What We’re Excited About

Discover wines you love!

Bright Cellars is the monthly wine club that uses an algorithm to match you with wines you’ll love based on your taste preferences.

Created by two MIT grads with a passion for wine, the Bright Points algorithm scores each wine by comparing 18 attributes to your preferences. It learns more about your taste preferences with every wine you rate. The more you rate, the more precise your matches.

Bright Cellars will always make sure each match is a perfect fit. It offers a satisfaction guarantee and will work with you to include a replacement bottle in your next order.

V. Question

What do you want your life to feel like six months from now?

VI. This Week I Will

  1. Lead with humility.

  2. Accept where I Am.

  3. Express appreciation.

  4. Love without conditions.

  5. Make someone feel important.

The Last Words…

“Power is not meant to be gripped with a clenched fist or to be hoarded, but power is meant to be handled generously so we can thoughtfully empower one another to thrive in our communities for love’s sake, championing our humanity before our ambitions.”
