Today I joyfully exercise my right to shine.

“I’m a firm believer that language and how we use language determines how we act, and how we act then determines our lives and other people’s lives.”

— Ntozake Shange

I. Truth Seeking

There is…

  • The lie

  • The myth

  • The truth

  • The known

  • The opinion

  • The unknown

  • The half-truth

  • The assumption

“Stop chasing things that are beneath the truth of who you are. You matter.” — Iyanla Vanzant

II. Take A Pause

Pausing = An opportunity to shift what isn’t working and take personal responsibility without jumping into the next activity, conversation or role.

Pausing allows us to self-reflect on the blindspots, so patterns are not repeated, and behaviors that keep us from moving forward are detected.

Stay hungry yet patient and positive. Life is never merely a destination but a journey of awakened discovery. Cultivate moments of pausing.

III. Stretch Your Wings

  1. Use time in new ways.

  2. Be kind to someone else.

  3. Take advantage of technology.

  4. Approach each day as a gift of time.

  5. Maximize strengths and opportunities.

  6. Focus on regulating your daily emotions.

  7. Surround yourself with positive and inspiring people.

IV. Question

What moves you towards greater meaning and purpose in your life?

V. This Week I Will

  • Be the light.

  • Thank someone.

  • Read with curiosity.

  • Take the higher road.

  • Mindfully pause before reacting.

The Last Words…

“The space between the idea of something and its reality is always wide and deep and dark. The longer they are kept apart—idea of thing, reality of thing—the wider the width, the deeper the depth, the thicker and darker the darkness.”

― Jamaica Kincaid
