Sunday Thinking

"True wealth is found not in attaining more, but in discovering enough. Never let your quest for more distract you from the beauty of enough."

The weekly Sunday Thinking newsletter is quick-hit content that aims to provide a booster shot to your thought process as you end and start your week.

"So often, we say that we wish we had known back then what we know now. We dream of returning to our pasts so we can make new choices. So we can live more fully. So we can cherish what we had while we had it and love it all just a little bit more. But we can't go back. And if we're always dreaming of going back, we're going to miss out on what we have right now. And one day, today is the day we'll be wishing we could return to; today is the day we'll wish we had loved just a little bit more. So this is what we can do: we can give this present moment our undivided attention. We can tell the people we love exactly how we feel while they're here. We can take the risks we've been so afraid to take and choose bravery over backing down. And every once in a while, we can step out of our thinking minds and into our feeling hearts. We can be here, exactly where we are, without always searching for something to change or fix. And we can give this whole living thing our very best shot. Maybe we can't go back and change the past, but we can create a present moment so beautiful that it doesn't need to be changed."

I. Fueling Growth

In a changing world, expertise quickly becomes obsolete without humility and curiosity.

  • Expertise is what you know.

  • Humility is knowing what you don’t know.

  • Curiosity is how much you want to learn.

Expertise yields insight today. Humility and curiosity fuel growth tomorrow.

II. "I Never Lose. I Either Win or Learn."

Lessons from 2022 to bring into 2023:

  • Your growth comes first

  • Be intentional with your time

  • Forcing things does not work

  • Being kind supports your peace

  • Hang out with revitalizing people

  • Let consistency help your flourishing

  • Remember the progress you have made

  • Slow things down when your mood is low

  • People pleasing hurts your mental health

  • Seeking perfection hinders your progress

  • You cannot make everyone understand you

III. As One Chapter Ends, Another Begins

As we reflect on the year, let’s foster moments for stillness, solitude, and gratitude as we acknowledge ourselves with compassion and how far we have come without judgment.

Here are some gentle reminders as we close out 2022 and welcome in 2023:

  • You were born to be real, not to be perfect. Life is not about perfection. It is about progression. It is okay not to have it all figured out.

  • An abundance of grace, resiliency, and courage lies in the hearts and minds of those we lead when we approach solutions from WE, not ME.

  • Even amidst navigating uncharted waters, there is still beauty, calmness, and wisdom immersed within the tide.

  • You are seen. You are appreciated. You are loved. You are valued. You are enough. Life is not happening to you ― it’s happening for you.

V. Question

What did 2022 teach me about myself?

VII. This Week, I Will

  1. Trust my story and path.

  2. Be intentional and stay present.

  3. Pour into my cup the way I pour into others.

  4. Do at least one nice thing for myself each day.

  5. Reflect on and thank 2022 for the lessons learned.

The Last Words…

"You’re not late. You’re on time. The process was preparation. Your journey doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s and often will not match the timeline you created. Less shame and judgment. More breath, compassion, and acceptance. Now you’re ready."
