“I suggest that we live the rest of our lives with gratitude and appreciation for what we receive just by being alive. Just being alive, just the pleasure of breathing, is enough to fill our hearts with gratitude.”

― Don Miguel Ruiz

I. 1% Better Every Day

To forge better habits, follow a four-step framework:

  1. First, employ “implementation intention” to help you stay clear about why you’re implementing a habit.

  2. Second, change your physical environment in ways that prompt good behavior and deter bad behavior.

  3. Third, repetition is paramount to improvement. Practice getting started.

  4. And fourth, to stay on the right path, seek out small hits of immediate gratification by marking your daily practice on a calendar, creating a chain of progress.

II. Gratitude Has No Substitute

You can never say thank you enough.

We should remember we did not get where we are on our own.

Acknowledge people and appreciate people while you can.

III. It’s Okay To…

  • Say no.

  • Choose yourself.

  • Forgive yourself.

  • End relationships.

  • Change your mind.

  • Feel your emotions.

  • Designate alone time.

  • Take a break from social media.

  • Be selective with who you spend time with.

  • Choose not to engage in triggering conversations.

IV. Question

What did you learn about yourself in the last couple days?

V. This Week I Will

  1. Smile more.

  2. Practice gratitude.

  3. Reframe situations.

  4. Disconnect to reconnect.

  5. Be mindful of body posture.

The Last Words…

“Does the sun ask itself, "Am I good? Am I worthwhile? Is there enough of me?" No, it burns and it shines. Does the sun ask itself, "What does the moon think of me? How does Mars feel about me today?" No it burns, it shines. Does the sun ask itself, "Am I as big as other suns in other galaxies?" No, it burns, it shines.”
