Sunday Thinking

To be a transformational leader and coach, you must deeply understand what you are transforming.

The weekly Sunday Thinking newsletter is quick-hit content that aims to provide a booster shot to your thought process as you end and start your week.

"Stop walking through the world looking for confirmation that you don't belong. You will always find it because you've made that your mission. Stop scouring people's faces for evidence that you're not enough. You will always find it because you've made that your goal. True belonging and self-worth are not goods; we don't negotiate their value with the world. The truth about who we are lives in our hearts. Our call to courage is to protect our wild heart against constant evaluation, especially our own. No one belongs here more than you."

― Brené Brown, Braving the Wilderness

I. Build Competence. Inspire Confidence

  • Confidence without competence = Telling yourself that you are highly skilled, but you haven’t paid the price to be—this is common.

  • Competence without confidence = You are highly skilled, but you still doubt yourself— this is normal.

Build competence, and let confidence follow.

II.  Today I Affirm

Gentle affirmations as we embark on a new day, week and month:

  • Tomorrow is not promised. The only destination is the here and now. Breathe deeply as you reflect on today’s precious gift of the present.

  • Find the courage to ask questions. When we ask questions, we won’t have to make assumptions.

  • Instead of blaming, we can take responsibility for our own healing as we move forward with self-compassion and self-love.

  • Make peace with what didn’t happen. We haven’t missed out on anything that is actually meant for us.

III. Good to Great

5 signs of a truly great leader. A truly great leader:

  1. Acts Like A Coach: Coaches believe in lifting up their team, removing obstacles from their paths, and helping them become more successful than they are.

  2. Wants To Know Your Story: They want to get to know you as a person, not simply someone filling a role on a team.

  3. Understands Your Weaknesses But Focuses On Your Strengths: Truly great leaders understand their team's strengths and do what they can to make those strengths shine.

  4. Embraces Vulnerability: People don't want to work for a robot, they want to work for a human being, and there is nothing more human than being vulnerable.

  5. Challenges Convention: Embrace experimentation and challenge the status quo to innovate and develop something better.

VII. This Week, I Will

  1. Listen to the intent behind the words.

  2. Stop ignoring and judging my feelings.

  3. Permit myself to take life moment by moment.

  4. Nurture relationships that align with my growth.

  5. Choose myself and my well-being over shrinking and silencing my truth.

The Last Words…

"You’re not behind. It’s not too late. You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. Everything is unfolding as it should be. Don’t judge yourself or be hard on yourself about how long something is taking to happen. Your time is coming. Just be thankful that you made it this far."
